TRIP SUGGESTION TO MENTAWAI ISLAND
1.Mentawai Island is one part of Indonesia’s island that is still primitive. So you must be ready of these conditions, and your purpose of visiting, we strongly believed that is to know Mentawai’s nature and culture for a true experience of a simple and primitive culture.
2.Before visiting Mentawai Island, it is advisable to take prophylactic doses of anti malaria medicine at least one week before departing for Mentawai, and should be continued up to two weeks after leaving.
3.Travelers are also advised to bring sufficient supplies of medicine (Antidiarhea and seasickness, cream anti mosquito, first aid and antibiotics if possible).
4.Wear a good pair of hiking boots.
5.Respect local culture!
TRIP DURATION 6 DAYS :
DAY 01. Padang Airport – Sail to Siberut Island
We will pick up you at Bumi Minang International Airport – Padang, clearance & meeting service. After prepared for Mentawai Island we will drive to Muara Harbor. Depart for Mentawai, the boat leaving on 07:00 pm and will arrive at Muara Siberut on 06:00 am. Overnight on the Ferry (D)

In the morning, arrived at Siberut Mentawai Island, after breakfast we will report to the police station, then take a BOAT charter to the jungle, We will arrive in Kesagu ( the gate of the jungle) we will sailing on the river for 2 hours, then we arrive at Kesagu, from Kesagu we will walk to Rorogod around 2 hours. Your guide will explain some of local tools and their life style. We will overnight here at UMA the mentawaian traditional long house (B.L.D)
DAY 03. Mentawai Tribe
Today we will show you how the local people making “KABID” the traditional clotches (the loin cloth of the bark). and in the afternoon we do hunting around rorogod with local people (B.L.D)
We will see they hunting the animals by the arrow with poison-tipped, such as birds, monkeys, etc, but this activities only to show you, their old cultur. In additional information, monkey is most valuable hunting result, so that if someone get monkey, he will beat the wood drum. Tung….tung….tung… to call other family for eating together, because eating that by himself is taboo and at the same time the notification, is prohibit to which not member of family for not coming in that moment.
We walk to another village, also we will visit Kulukubuk village, there we will see the beautiful and natural waterfall, we can swim here, from waterfall we walk to Sikalio and from Sikalio to Rorogod for overnight. In the evening you will show you the Mentawaian shaman dance, called “TURUK”
TURUK: includes the sacrifice of a pig that is cooked and shared by the entire clan. Afterward, the chanting, drumming and dancing of the sikeireis (medicine men) often culminate in shamanic trances
DAY 05 Back to Muara Siberut
After breakfast, we will walk from Rorogod to Kesagu, and from Kesagu to Muara Siberut by BOAT, in the evening we sailing to Padang, overnight on the Ferry. (B.L.D)
DAY 06 Arrive in Padang In the Morning we will arrive at Padang Harbor then transfer to Hotel.(B)
